Winter Park, Colorado
Winter Park is one of my favorite smaller ski towns to visit in Colorado and is the perfect winter wonderland getaway destination. If you like to participate in winter activities like skiing and tubing or you just love to enjoy the winter scenery – then Winter Park is the place for you. Winter Park was recently named the #1 Ski Resort in North America by USA Today readers for the second year in a row!
There are tons of winter activities in Winter Park besides skiing and snowboarding such as snow tubing at the Coca-Cola Tube Park, snowshoe tours, snowmobiling, ice skating and tons more! Click here to see a full list of winter activities offered in Winter Park.
There are also tons of great places to shop and eat in Winter Park. The Winter Park area has over 45 unique shops featuring clothing, art, gifts and souvenirs and so much more.

Telluride, Colorado
Telluride is one of the most picturesque towns in Colorado, particularly in the winter. Their downtown area is nestled right at the base of the mountains to form the most perfect backdrop. Downtown Telluride has boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and more.
The town of Telluride and Mountain Village (where the Ski Resort is) are connected by a one-of-a-kind free gondola ride. It takes approximately 13 minutes to reach Mountain Village from Telluride. Once you have arrived you have access to over 2,100 acres of mountainsides. Read more information about the gondola ride here.
Telluride also offers a number of fun activities during the winter months including ice climbing, horseback and sleigh rides, dog sledding, snowmobiling and so much more! Click here to see a full list of winter activities.
There are also several festivals and events that take place during the winter in Telluride. This year they will have the Telluride Fire Festival from December 4th-6th which was inspired by the Burning Man Festival and is centered around an interactive experience of fire artistry. Gatlinburg, Tennessee
Gatlinburg is another winter wonderland getaway destination. The town is filled with winter activities and is mild in temperature during the winter months with an average of around 50 degrees.
Although Gatlinburg does not get as much snow as other winter destinations, there is plenty to see and do during the winter months here. You can also head on over to Ober Gatlinburg to get your dose of snow and winter activities. Here you can ski, snowboard, tube, ice skate and more.
While in Gatlinburg be sure to take a scenic drive through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. If there isn’t any snow in Gatlinburg it can usually found by driving up Newfound Gap road into the higher peaks of the Smoky Mountains. Annual snowfall amounts approach close to 70 inches during the winter months here. It is a breathtaking drive that I would highly recommend taking.
