Okay I’ll admit it…I’m a Target addict. I shop there at least once a week and tend to spend WAY too much money there (don’t tell my husband). I’m always looking for ways to save when shopping there and have found some great ways to save big money on baby items.
Check Their Weekly Ad
You can find this online here https://weeklyad.target.com/ Often times they will have a coupon or a gift card option for baby items. I usually tend to stock up when they do this since I know I’m going to use the items regardless. Keep an eye out for these as they are a great way to save money.
The sales are usually “spend $75 and get a $15 gift card” or “spend $100 and get a $25 gift card”. I stockpiled on diapers and wipes last time they had this sale and ended up with $50 in gift cards. It can usually be used on most baby items so if you use formula this is a great way to save money too.
Cartwheel App
Download the Cartwheel App to your phone. I recently started using this and it definitely helps a lot, particularly with baby items. They usually have discounts for diapers, clothing, wipes, baby food, formula, bottles and tons more.
All you do is add these offers by clicking the “+” button on your app and it automatically adds the discount to your account under the Checkout tab at the bottom. All you have to do is show the cashier your barcode and they scan it. It’s so simple and I wish that I had started using it earlier! The best part is if you have items in your cart that you aren’t sure about, you can scan the barcode on it through the app and it will tell you if there is a coupon for it or not. You do this by going to My List and then clicking the barcode in the top right corner.
You can also stack Cartwheel offers with target coupons, manufacturer coupons and use your Target REDcard as well! This can lead to major savings for baby items like diapers, wipes, and formula.
Target.com Coupons
Check http://coupons.target.com/ for baby related manufacturer coupons as well. Sometimes they have other coupons that are not offered on the Cartwheel app. You can print these off and use them in-store.
Target REDcard
I put off getting this for years because I didn’t want another credit card and every time they pitched it to me in the store I immediately shut them down. But then they started offering it as a debit card and I figured why not. You can link it to an existing bank account so all it does is take money out of that.
If you’re going to spend the money anyways why not save 5%? It may not seem like much but trust me when I say that it adds up quickly. I’ve already saved close to $150 since I got my card earlier this year! Plus like I mentioned earlier, it can be combined with the Cartwheel app, coupons and the gift card incentives. For any frequent Target shopper it’s a must-have.
Create a Baby Registry
If you’re expecting and create a baby registry with Target you’ll receive a welcome kit with samples and coupons worth $50. The best part is that Target will send you a 15% off coupon for any items that were left unpurchased on your registry. I used this to buy our car seat and bassinet for my daughter and ended up saving over $50. It’s great for some of those more expensive purchases. Click here to create a Target Baby Registry
Use Their Store Brand:
Target’s brand Up & Up has diapers, formula & wipes for a much lower price tag than the name brands. They are often on sale or have a coupon available as well. (Check the end caps) While I haven’t used the wipes or formula, I have nothing but good things to say about their diapers. They are so much cheaper than other brands but are still quality diapers. I have never had an issue with leaking either.
Price Matching
Target will price match with select competitors including Amazon, Babies R Us, and Walmart. Bring the printed ad or show the online price or digital ad on your phone to the cashier and they will adjust the price. This pretty much guarantees you the lowest price on most items. Perfect for things like diapers and formula. The only downside is that you cannot use Cartwheel, Target coupons, gift card offers, and registry completion coupons in addition to the price match.
